Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV

surfing around and found quite a few negative reviews on Coheed and Cambria's new album. it's got a pretty damned long name, and what you see in the title only constitutes about half of it.

bad reviews? i'm like, wtf?

okay, admittedly i'm not done with the entire album yet... but from what i'm listening to right now, i honestly think it sounds goddamned fantastic. i'll never understand why music sites hire reviewers who don't appreciate the band they're reviewing in the first place: it's only when you're well-acquainted with the band-in-question that you'll be able to tell if they're churning out good or bad stuff, right?

i think Coheed is a bloody fantastic band - thing is, it's not something that you'd appreciate on the first listen; rather, it's very much a band that you need to grow on. even so though, you just can't beat songs like a favor house (atlantic), blood red summer and the suffering (new track) for sheer catchiness. i swear there's something primal and emotive in those crazy vocals.

so... well... umm... honestly speaking, if you'd never dig stuff like Saosin, Avenged Sevenfold and Underoath, you can pretty much take this entry and shove it.

but trust me on Coheed - it's good. really.
